Monashee Football Club is into the win column in the North Okanagan Men’s Soccer League.
MFC defeated a shorthanded Revelstoke Stallions squad 3-2 at Marshall Field Wednesday night.
The Stallions played the match with just 10 players.
Monashee came ready to avenge their loss last week.
MFC open the scoring late in the first when the ball came over the box to Alberto Lopez, who made some moves and put it bar down to finish the play.
Revelstoke answered right away when the ball got squared to center and a great strike leveled the game.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
MFC took advantage of having plenty of subs and kept running the tired Stallions down the wings, and were nearly rewarded when Nathan Whitling got a partial breakaway and tried to chip the ball up over the oncoming keeper, who ended up making a great save on the play.
Luis Herlandz gave MFC the lead, which quickly evaporated as Revelstoke tied the match 2-2 on a defensive error by the Vernon backline.
With time running out, MFC kept the pressure on and got a few corner kicks, keeping Revelstoke pinned in its own end.
Whitling again broke down the wing, crossing a perfectly weighted ball to Lopez, who calmly nodded it home for the winner.
Over on Marshall Field #3, the reigning champion North Enderby Timber improved to 2-0 by edging the pesky Peter’s Tirecraft/Concept Physio 1-0.
NET’s defence shut down Tirecraft all night, giving away no chances.
Devin Janke scored the game’s only goal, burying a first-half penalty kick.
No scores were reported from matches between Turn-Key Control and Salmon Arm Outlaws at Marshall, and a Salmon Arm derby between NOD Eagle Homes and Courvas.
n Vernon’s Jared Quibell and Taitum MacAulay helped Thompson Okanagan Football Club U15s go undefeated at a weekend tournament.
Quibell had the game’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Vancouver Island. He then set up a goal in a 3-1 victory over Washington State.
MacAulay recorded his second clean sheet of the event in goal in the final game against the two-time defending provincial champs Surrey United. The game ended 0-0.
