Vernon’s Curtis Lazar will play his second NHL exhibition game with the Ottawa Senators tonight against the host New York Islanders.
The Sens’ first-round draft choice made his pre-season debut in Wednesday night’s 3-1 loss against the Canadiens in Montreal.
“It felt like Christmas, that’s for sure, just getting to the rink,” Lazar told Sens TV. “ I’m looking forward to it. There’s no better place to start for your first NHL pre-season action.”
Lazar, who will likely be returned to the WHL Edmonton Oil Kings, earned 13 minutes and 39 seconds of ice time in Montreal, including 43 seconds on the powerplay. He had one shot on goal.
The 18-year-old forward separated his shoulder in training camp when he was bumped by veteran Colin Greening.
