Nelson Junior Leafs fell 6-4 against North Okanagan Knights on Friday night.
This despite the Leafs outshooting their opponents in the first and third frame and matching them in the second.
In the first period, the Knights scored three unanswered goals.
Despite the opposing team’s early advantage, the Leafs weren’t ready to pack it in.
The local team score three times in the second, while the Knights got two more past Nelson goalie Cody Boeckman.
In the third period, each team added one more goal to their tally.
The Knights (9-2-0) are the top ranked team in the Okanagan/Shuswap’s Doug Birks Division.
The Leafs (6-5-1) play their division rival Grand Forks Border Bruins (1-12-0) on Saturday, 7 p.m. at the Nelson Community Complex.
