Sam Poarch (pictured) took the win in the Logging Leftovers downhill race on Sunday, nearly cracking the three minute barrier on the swooping, berm-filled trail. He edged out Marty Schaffer for the victory. On the women’s side Lindsey Corrigan bested the field, finishing several seconds ahead of Theresa McGeragle. The next downhill race isn’t until October.
In the cross-country race on Wednesday, an Olympian showed up and dominated the field. Catherine Pendrel, completed six laps in 1:24:53.3, to beat all men and women. Her husband Keith Wilson finished second, 3:35 back of Pendrel. Brendan MacIntosh was the top local male, coming in almost four minutes back of Pendrel. On the women’s side, Emily Unterberger completed five laps of the four-kilometre course to be the top female non-Olympian. The next cross-country race is at Mt. Macpherson on July 2.
