Legends going wild

North Okanagan Bantam B Legends are one win away from a berth in the provincial lacrosse championships

North Okanagan Bantam B Legends are one win away from a berth in the provincial lacrosse championships.

The Legends ended the regular season in the Thompson Okanagan League as champions, finishing one point ahead of Kamloops and two ahead of Shuswap.

The playoff weekend was sure to be hotly contested in every game and it definitely lived up to expectation.

North Okanagan won its first game Friday night against Shuswap in overtime, and then faced the two Kamloops teams on Saturday.

The NOK team started slowly Saturday morning falling behind 3-0 after the first period and finally lost 6-2, knocking them out of any chance to win the playoffs due to the other teams’ won-loss record.

The Legends could still advance to a wild card game with a win in their final contest.

Against the second Kamloops squad, the Legends opened up a 5-0 lead and cruised to a 13-2 win. The victory gives North Okanagan a wild card game shot at a spot in the B.C. finals.

North Okanagan will play its wild card game on July 10 in Merritt against a Lower Mainland squad.

The winner advances to the provincial finals starting July 15 in Vancouver.
