The Nor-Val/Hi-Pro Pee Wee A2 Legends tied the Penticton Heat 4-4 and then rocked them 10-4 in Pee Wee A2 lacrosse action Saturday.
Conor Webb (2+1), Jake Pelletier and Brady Marzocco supplied the undefeated Legends’ offence in the morning draw. Additional assists came from Cole Martin and goaltender Jakob Schweb at the Nor-Val Sports Centre in Armstrong.
“A lack of focus was likely our issue in the first game as our passes were missing and the catches were being dropped throughout the game,” said Legends’ coach Harold Mann.
In the afternoon, the Legends came out better prepared and ran the Heat into the ground.
“Our work ethic was much better this game as the kids were more focused on what they had to do to win,” said Mann. “Their stick work was much more effective, the offence was quick to move the ball with quality shots on net, and at the defensive end of the floor, we kept the Penticton squad to the outside the whole game.”
Marzocco pulled the hat trick, while Martin scored twice and Webb and Jake Pelletier each earned 1+2. Singles came from Jayden Hunter, Jaxson Cummings and a sniper shot off the back boards from Shelby Conors. Additional assists were turned in by Niklas Luttmerding (2), Dawson Boyce and Schweb.
The Legends faced the Kelowna Kodiaks in a make-up game Tuesday night, to close the regular season. They then ready for the provincials July 6-10, in Vernon and Armstrong.
In Pee Wee B1 action Sunday at Nor-Val Sports Centre, the Legends rolled over Kelowna #2 10-3 behind hat tricks from Dakota Campen and Francois Leroux.
James Francis, Colton Greeno, Mason McLennan and Travis Aeichele provided singles, while Trey Moura counted two helpers.
The Legends used another Leroux hat trick to stop visiting Penticton 6-1 Sunday in Armstrong.
McLennan added two goals, while Miles Wohlford had one with Cuzzetto going the distance in net.
