The Nor-Val/Hi-Pro Sportswear Legends rocked the Kamloops Rattlers 14-6 in Pee Wee A2 lacrosse action Tuesday night at Hassen Memorial Arena in Armstrong.
The Legends outplayed Kamloops in every part of the game and showed good discipline while using their depth to frustrate the Rattlers.
The Legends registered five powerplay goals, while Kamloops had a pair.
Jake Pelletier supplied 5+1, Conor Webb counted 4+2, Chase Bronson bagged a pair and Brady Marzocco provided 1+2. Niklas Luttmerding and Dawson Boyce also scored, while assists came from goalie Jakob Schweb, Nicholas Mann, Brett Olsen, Chase Wirth and Riley Swiscoski
In Pee Wee B 1 action, the Gilbert Parts Depot Legends smothered the Kelowna Grizzlies Tuesday night in Rutland after grounding Penticton 7-4 Saturday in Summerland.
Mason McLennan pulled the hat trick Tuesday night, while Tyson Reschke scored twice and singles came from James Francis, Cam Lock, Kieran Watts and Francois Leroux.
In Summerland, it was Francis pocketing 4+1, Lock and Colton Greeno each earning 1+2, and Leroux also scoring once.
The host Kamloops Rattlers scored with three minutes left to clip the North Okanagan Butcher Boys 8-7 in Midget A action Monday night.
The Rattlers scored first before Liam Drabiuk opened it up for the Legends. Kamloops then reeled off three goals while the Legends’ Jake Thomson scored from Mike Hanley and Sean Connors.
In the second period, the Legends were fired up early by a goal from Ryan Sarazin. Jordan Orr followed up with two more, assisted by Dustin Copeland and Conor Payne, to equalize.
Payne netted the go-ahead goal, assisted by Sarazin, but Kamloops equalized less than a minute later to end the second.
Orr completed his hat trick, from Payne and Sarazin, early in the third. Kamloops tied it three minutes later. Tyler Landry made some great saves and had lots of help with the Legends’ defence.
Liam Macphee, Mitchell Anderson, Jonathan Grant, Chris Inscho and Chelsea Wiesgerber all turned in tireless showings. Devan Pipke left the game in the first period after taking a slash to the hand.
The Legends tied Penticton 8-8 in a Sunday thriller and then stopped the Peach City crew 11-7 to cap a Sunday doubleheader.
Sean Connors scored with 90 seconds left and Liam Drabiuk found the back of the net with six seconds as the Legends rallied for the dramatic tie featuring awesome play by Landry.
Sarazin, from Dustin Copeland, had the Legends’ lone first-period tally. Penticton opened the second period with two goals for a 5-1 lead before Sarazin countered with two more, assisted by Connors.
After the break, the Legends came out fired up and ready to battle for loose balls against a longtime rival.
Shortly into the third, Sarazin scored three times on assists from Drabiuk, Connors and Macphee, pulling North Okanagan within a goal.
Penticton scored with four minutes left before the Legends went to work.
The second encounter with Penticton was just as exciting as the first, with the Legends opening the attack with Jordan Orr converting from Drabiuk. Penticton responded with three before Orr clicked again to end the first.
In the second frame, Jake Thomson started the Legends offence, assisted by Anderson and Wiesgerber, but Penticton answered a minute later.
Penticton was getting tired with only four subs which helped the Legends’ Drabiuk and Grant score, assisted by Sarazin, Payne and Macphee.
The Legends outscored Penticton 7-3 in the third with Orr and Drabiuk ending up with a hat trick each and Connors, Sarazin, Anderson and Inscho earning singles.
Kolten Kirschner was sidelined in the third with a broken thumb, while Wiesgerber, Copeland, Pipke and Hanley drew high praise from coach Jeff Connauton for tough defence.
