Four unanswered second half touchdowns lifted the Seaquam Seahawks to a 35-7 win over the Holy Cross Crusaders in a B.C. High School football Association Senior AA Southern Conference game.
Mark Lego scored on a 65-yard run to put Seaquam up 7-0, but the Crusaders rallied with two touchdowns and a field goal for a 10-point lead by the half.
Lego ran for two more touchdowns in the second half, caught a four-yard pass for another, and added his fifth major of the game on a 47-yard kick return.
Gabe Pamintuan had eight tackles to lead the defense, with Keegan Lensink making seven tackles and recovering a fumble. Jay Singh also had seven tackles.
Seaquam improved to 2-1 (won-lost) and is tied for second place in the Southern Conference. Holy Cross fell to fourth place at 2-2.
Both teams will play on the road Saturday, with Seaquam facing the 0-3 Eric Hamber Griffins and the Crusaders in Tsawwassen for a match with the 3-0 South Delta Sun Devils.
In Senior AA play, the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers trounced the Notre Dame Jugglers 41-13 in Burnaby last Friday night.
The Panthers are one of three teams tied for first place in the Eastern Conference with 3-1 records, and close out the season with two games against each of the other co-leaders.
They host the St. Thomas More Knights Friday at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary, then visit the W.J. Mouat Hawks the following Friday (Nov. 2) in Abbotsford.
