LFV All-Stars fall in semifinals

The Lower Fraser Valley All-Stars’ dream of going to the World Series ended on Tuesday with a loss to the host team in the Canadian senior (15/16) national championship semifinals in Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

The All-Stars — a collection of players from Langley, North Langley and Whalley — lost 5-1 to the host team and top-seed team from Quebec.

Lower Fraser Valley had put itself in a huge hole, losing their first three games of the tournament, all by a single run.

But needing to win their final two games to qualify for the playoff round, they responded with a 10-2 win over Ontario and then a 9-8 victory over the Prairies to finish the round robin fourth.

Quebec faced Ontario in the championship final.
