Vernon Kal Tire rebounded from a shutout loss last week by icing Westside 8-0 in Okanagan Oldtimers 50+ Soccer League action Thursday night at Marshal Field #2.

Mike Lloyd scored the first of his three goals on a confident run, sliding the ball by the Westside keeper to open the offence. Mark DeVolder, taking a through ball from Lloyd and then beating two defenders, made it 2-0 before the intermission.

In the second half, Jenne Huberts added to the score with a blast to the top left corner. Moments later, Huberts headed the ball to the far post off a long corner kick by Rob Parkin.

Denis Chabot scored twice to finish off the 14-5-2 Kal Tire offensive.

In other 50+ action, the Vernon Silver Stars got back on the winning track with a 4-3 win over the host Kelowna Kickers.

With striker Rob Ross watching from the sidelines with an ankle injury sustained early on, the Stars (8-10-3) played a solid game and capitalized on the few opportunities they had.

Mike Siemens opened the scoring on a great rush down the left side, cracking a long, hard drive to catch the kelowna keeper off his line.

Steve Coombs earned the Stars’ second goal and then set up their third tally on a great rush and pass to Ray Timms, who had the goal to himself for the tap in.

Timms supplied the winner with a nice shot to the top right corner after a corner from Siemens.
