It took years of preparation for what amounted to a few minutes on stage but local body builder and personal trainer Jeremy DiPietrantonio wouldn’t have it any other way.
JD as he’s known, realized a longtime dream back in mid-November when he oiled up for the big annual Sandra Wickham Fall Classic body building competition played out at The Massey Theatre in New West Nov. 13.
Based out of Jim’s Gym in the Parksville, JD, 24, had been training for the Classic a few years back when he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.
Fast forward to today, and the married father of a young son has been a certified personal trainer for over five years.
“I placed 9th of 17 guys,” JD said last week when The News caught up with him.
He was competing as a light heavyweight. A record 150 competitors signed up for this year’s Classic, making it the biggest body building show in B.C. history.
“I was hoping to place higher, but to be honest I was very happy with my outcome,” JD said.
“I feel I went on stage the best I could have given my age, never competing and being drug free.”
In the meantime, JD says its back to building his business, “getting back to heavy off season training, and if all goes well I will be heading to Kelowna in May of 2012 for a drug-tested event; on a fair playing field if you will, I will for sure be trying for top three at that event and then straight to the Nationals if that happens.”
