Local skiers hit podium at BC Freestyle comp at Silver Star

Competitors looking forward to upcoming BC Winter Games in Vernon.

 

The second BC Freestyle competition of the season – one of two qualifying events for the Canadian Junior Nationals – was held Feb. 3-4 at Silver Star.

This was a great opportunity to see some really talented youths ripping it up. There were over 200 competitors ages eight and up competing from clubs at Mount Washington, Apex, Whistler/Blackcomb, Silver Star, Big White, Revelstoke, Vancouver, Kimberly, Harper Mountain and the BC Provincial  team.

Mount Washington skiers posted strong results, including:

Super Youth-Big Air M6 Keaton Heisterman silver.

Moguls 12 & up F4 Mei Pond silver, M2 Dean Robin bronze, M4 Todd Heard gold.

Big Air 12 & up F4 Mei Poind gold, Hannah Benischek bronze, M4 Todd Heard gold.

Slopestyle F4 Hannah Benischek gold, M3 Teal Harle bronze, M4 Todd Heard gold.

Upcoming freestyle events include the BC Winter Games Feb. 23-26 in Silver Star and the Canadian Series Mogul Event March 3-4 at Castle Mountain.
