Locals land low net score at Glacier Greens Ladies’ Open

A field of 112 golfers took to the fairways for the 46th Glacier Greens Ladies Open Tournament, June 8.

Shelly Stouffer from Fairwinds and Karen Kloske from March Meadows shared the low gross trophy in the two-person best ball format, with a score of 69.

The low net team had the advantage of home-course knowledge. Glacier Greens members Liz Van Boeschoten and Kelly Quine posted the low net score of 57.

• Crown Isle Ladies

Marlene Horvath won the Dorothy Olive Franklin golf tournament with a net score of 66. Horvath will represent Crown Isle at the Zone 6 Champion of Champions Tournament in 2020.

Each year, Crown Isle Ladies make a donation in honour of Franklin to support junior golf in B.C.

Marsha Mckinnon won Stableford play on June 4 with 41 par points. Coming in a close second was Gwen Rypien with 40 par points.

On June 8, 15 Crown Isle ladies took part in the Glacier Greens Ladies Open. Raelene Robertson and May Mitchell placed third with a gross score of 73.

On Monday, June 10, 21 ladies took to the course in hopes of winning the Captain’s Cup trophy. Carol Ann Roulston’s team of Marsha Mckinnon and Irene Lewis took the trophy with an impressive score of 75. Three teams tied with 76. After a chip-off, Helen Flynn’s team of Brenda Barrigan and Kathy Thompson came in second. Jan Bain’s team of Peggy Quinny and Donna LeClair placed third.
