Michigan Tech senior forward Jake Lucchini was named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Month for November.
The Trail native and co-captain of the Huskies leads the WCHA in scoring with five goals and 15 points and led Tech to a 6-3-1 record during the month.
Lucchini, a former Trail Smoke Eaters captain, had points in six of the nine games during the month. He scored six goals and added seven assists to rank seventh in the nation over the span.
Lucchini scored the game-winner at Alabama Huntsville (Nov. 3) and at Ferris State (Nov. 10) to lead the league in that category. He added assists on the game-winning goal in both games when Tech swept Alaska on November 23-24. Six of his 13 points came on the power play, ranking him second in the WCHA. He also led the WCHA with 41 shots on goal to rank second in the country.
While it did not show up in his official statistics, Lucchini also netted a goal in 3-on-3 overtime on Nov. 30 versus Bemidji State, giving Tech the extra league point.
Lucchini was named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on November 12 and the NCAA First Star that week also.
Tech is ranked No. 20 this week in pairwise rankings, with an 9-6-1 overall record and is second in the WCHA standings with an 8-1-1-1 mark. Lucchini and the Huskies play their division rival 2-8-0 Alabaman-Huntsville on Friday and Saturday, after splitting their two game series against Northern Michigan last weekend.
