MacDonald lands spots on four BC lacrosse teams

A number of local players have been selected to represent the zone and BC teams.

Penticton will be well represented in upcoming minor lacrosse tournaments both in Canada and abroad later this summer.

In the BC Summer Games box lacrosse, Penticton had five players selected Keegan Allen, Finn Halladay, Ethan Konno, Rhys MacDonald and Spencer Watkinson and in the field lacrosse division, Devin Cole and Chay Gettens were chosen for the team.

Those players will compete for the Zone 2 team representing Thompson-Okanagan at the 40th anniversary of the BC Summer Games in Cowichan on Vancouver Island July 19-22.

The field team is comprised of 14-15-year-old boys.

Rhys MacDonald actually became the first Penticton minor lacrosse player to make all Team BC squads for both field and box lacrosse this year.

He will be going to Baltimore, Md., later this year as a member of the undefeated Team BC U15 national champion team.

MacDonald will also be joining Penticton’s Beau Chetner and Aidan Danby to play in the Canadian nationals in Whitby, Ont. at the end of August in the Team BC U18 field tournament.

As well, he will be a member of the Team BC midget box squad that will play in the Canadian nationals in the middle of August.
