The Princess Margaret senior girl’s basketball team opened their season placing second at the George Elliot tournament in Winfield over the weekend.
The Mustangs, currently ranked No. 8 in the province, lost to No. 3 Immaculata Mustangs of Kelowna 96-68. The northern Mustangs used an 8-0 run late in the second quarter to open up a 12-point lead. Megan Admussen-Blair led Maggie with 26 points and was named player of the game while Danielle Ruocco added 21. Caitlin Neary was the leading rebounder with seven boards.
The Mustangs opened by defeating Kelowna’s Aberdeen Hall 74–22. Admussen-Blair knocked down 17 points with nine rebounds, while Ruocco chipped in 14 points. Reiley Terbasket and Taylor Corrie each contributed seven points while Shinaaz Johal dominated the boards grabbing 14 rebounds. In the semifinal, the Mustangs dispatched a stubborn Heritage Christian team from Kelowna 63–59. The next action for the Mustangs is this Wednesday in Summerland.

This weekend Maggie is in Vernon where they will play three of the top AA schools in the valley.
