Dori Manley and Cindy Simpson continued their winning ways in the Vancouver Lawn Tennis Badminton Club Masters tournament this past weekend. Manley playing, with Immy Tay, won the 40+ Women’s Doubles, and Simpson, playing with Marg Hudson of Port Alberni, won the 70+ Women’s Doubles.
As a followup, the CRBC would like to acknowledge the following volunteers who contributed to the success of their annual tournament.
The players are thankful for the work done by Mike Hrybko, Wally Hrybko, Paul Jennings, Bradford Stephenson, Bev Mear, Don Pennell, Brian Cryer, Cathy McCartney, Pam Pick, Sandra Reeves, Rabs Sachedina, Jeanelle Fischer, Dori Manley and others who pitched in when needed.
Others who contributed to the event were the custodial and office staff at the Sportsplex, Roy of Dealer’s Choice in Nanaimo and Ayaz Amlani of Sure Copy and Siew Har Hong of Vancouver.
We would like to acknowledge the three photos taken by Alistair Taylor of the Mirror.
Many spectators come to watch and the event triggered the attendance of new players at the club’s regular night, as well as in 50+ badminton and on Tuesday night at the city’s recreation program.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge the fine meal provided by the staff at Quay West and the use of their lovely venue.
