Podium of Life Snowsports Academy students up at Mt. Washington learned to shoot last weekend as they tried their hands at the sport of biathlon.

According to POL teacher Shane Harle, the Vancouver Island Biathlon Club offered a day of training for the students in partnership with the Vancouver Island Mountain Centre, and showed the kids “what a biathlon race is all about.”

Students were given all the instructions on how to shoot, then raced each other.

“They loved this experience,” said Harle, adding “it is such a great feeling being able to offer these unique opportunities to students. Next week we are taking the kids geocaching in the snow.”

Vancouver Island Mountain Centre offers a variety of unique activities for school groups, including overnight accommodation with 40 beds.
