Marzocco lights up for North Okanagan Legends

North Okanagan Legends cruised to a 6-1 win over the Penticton Heat in Bantam A lacrosse play Saturday at the Summerland Arena.

Brady Marzocco recorded the hat trick as the North Okanagan Legends cruised to a 6-1 win over the Penticton Heat in Bantam A lacrosse play Saturday at the Summerland Arena.

North Okanagan outshot Penticton 44-27 and held period leads of 1-0 and 5-1. Other offence coming from Conor Webb (1+2), Brett Olsen and Chase Wirth. Jayden Jensen-Hunter and Nicholas Mann each had one assist.

In Pee Wee B action, North Okanagan bowed 8-6 to the Kelowna Kodiaks last Thursday at Priest Valley Arena.

The short-benched Legends kept up with the Kodiaks for much of the first period, and headed into the break trailing 3-2 on a pair of goals by Caedon Bellman.

The Kodiaks took advantage of the long change in the second period, using fresh legs to outrun North Okanagan to loose balls and build up a 6-2 lead.

Great goaltending by Brayden Leveille and solid defence from the always-reliable Sorcha Pasco, Jacob Brewer, Matthew Latham-Watt and Dawson Kerkhoff kept the game close.

Jaxxon Collard recorded the Legends’ second-period snipe.

After a stern talk from head coach Casey Sherriff about getting to loose balls, the Legends came out flying in the third period, with the sniper duo of Bellmann and Collard each finishing the night with a hat trick.

The Cenovus Energy Legends had a draw and a loss against the Kamloops Venom in a Midget doubleheader.

Zach Kuperus and Conner Forrest supplied the offence as North Okanagan ran to a 2-2 draw in the opener. Jacob Riva collected two assists and Kyle Dennis and goalie Darnell Hauca each had one.

Dennis took a hit before dishing to Forrest for the late equalizer.

Richard Thompson had two goals and Kuperus added a single in a 4-3 loss. Mackenzie Moore dished two assists and Darien Ottesen added one in support of Hauca.

The Bantam #2 Legends grabbed three of four weekend points, opening with a 5-5 draw against Penticton in Summerland.

Travis Aeichele connected twice to lead the North Okanagan attack, singles coming from Tiege Doughty, Miles Wohlford and Jake Pelletier.

The Legends used a big third period to upend the host Kamloops Rattlers 6-2 in their second tilt.

Pelletier (2+2), Reese Hawthorne (1+2), Aeichele, Sean Howard and Doughty handled the offence. Wohlford supplied an assist.
