There will be a registration and information opportunity this Thursday at the Aquatic Centre foyer to learn more about the new Comox Valley Youth Triathlon Club starting up this spring. The registration will run from 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 7.
Coach Lynda Magor and other Comox Valley Triathlon Club members will be on hand to inform athletes and parents of the new youth club they are hoping to get going on the heels of a smaller six- week clinic which was put on by the club last year in preparation for the Shoreline Orthodontics Comox Valley Tri-K at the end of May.
The youth club will run from March until June, helping athletes ages 12-18 prepare for several youth triathlons on the racing circuit both on the Island and the Mainland. The group will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays to work on triathlon specific skills and fitness.
In addition to this new venture of a youth club, Magor and local Ironman athlete and coach Audrey Erlandson will also be offering the same six-week clinic in April and May, leading up to this year’s edition of the Shoreline Orthordontics Tri-K race, to help those newer to the sport gain some tips and assistance in what to expect for their first race.
Those considering either option (the four-month club or the clinic) are welcome to attend the registration on Thursday evening to meet coach Magor and gain more information on these options for youth who may be looking for a summer sport to compliment their other sport options or simply want to try this multi-discipline sport which is selling out races of all distances across North America.
