After bolting out of the gate with a 3-0 start, the host Kelowna Fripp Warehousing Rockets settled for third best at the B.C. midget tier 1 boys hockey championship.
The Rockets missed out a berth in the final game by losing their last two games.
The Prince George Cougars eliminated Kelowna from contention with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday at Memorial Arena.
The Cougars scored just 15 seconds into the game, before Chris Koberniski scored on a deflection for the Rockets to tie the score 1-1.
But P.G. put the game away with a pair of power play goals in the third period, then added an empty netter.
The Rockets, who finished the tourney with a 3-2 record, registered wins over Cowichan Valley, Richmond and Abbotsford, then lost to Kamloops and Prince George.
In the championship game Wednesday night at Memorial Arena, Prince George hammered Kamloops 6-0.
Midget tier 4 champs…
The Kelowna Rockets captured the provincial midget tier 4 championship with a 5-1 victory over Fort St. James in the final Wednesday night in Nakusp.
Kelsey Byrne scored twice for Kelowna, with Nathaniel Higgins, Cody Murray and Jackson Siemens scoring the other goals.
The Rockets finished the tournament with a 5-1 record.
