Bantam Sharks sweep pair
Adam Fyfe opened the game with a natural hat trick and the Oceanside Sharks bantams went on to a 10-1 romp over Peninsula in Vancouver Island Box Lacrosse League play June 4 at Oceanside Place Arena.
The following day, the Sharks completed a weekend sweep with a 13-2 home win over Campbell River.
On Saturday, Fyfe scored three goals in the first 14 minutes of play. The visiting Warriors ruined goalie Jake Colley’s shutout bid on Perry Underwood’s unassisted goal at 16:25 of the period, but it was all Sharks from that point.
Dain Lewis had two goals and an assist; Braeden Leary had a goal and five assists; Kohl Krastel, David Simons and Ben Tisdelle each notched a goal and an assist; and Blake Beatty added a score in the victory. Quentin Little, Tanner Allen and Ellyot Cain added assists.
Sharks 13, Ravens 3
Fyfe was at it again Sunday with another hat trick and two assists as the bantams broke open a close game with a huge second period.
Oceanside took a narrow 2-1 edge into the second, but the hosts erupted for six goals in the period and Colley limited Campbell River to a single tally as the Sharks took control and never looked back.
Simons also registered a hat trick, and Leary had a pair of goals. Additional goals were scored by Krastel, Beatty, Lewis, Allan and Cain. Krastel and Allan each had three assists, while Lewis and Cain each had a pair and Tisdelle and Simons had one helper apiece.
