Mills battle Cents for two ties

The Quesnel Millionaires faced the Merritt Centennials twice on the weekend in British Columbia Hockey League action and came away with two points.

After losing Friday’s game 4-3 in overtime, a game they had led 2-0 and 3-1, the Mills were looking for a little payback.

The Mills almost missed their chance at payback as they were down 3-2 with less than a minute to play.

A fortunate icing call put the puck in the Cents zone and Derek Huisman, as he has done several times this year, managed to jam the puck home in a crowd of sticks, skates and pads with just four seconds left in regulation to give the Mills the tie.

Two overtime periods solved nothing.

Friday night’s game was less dramatic, but more disappointing as the Mills squandered two two-goal leads to let the Cents back into the game,

The Cents then stole two points as the scored midway through the first overtime period.
