Mission City Outlaws finish preseason at 3-1

Outlaws split home and home series with Langley, season opens Sept. 6

The Mission City Outlaws have wrapped up the Pacific Junior Hockey League preseason schedule with a 3-1 record.

The Outlaws travelled to Langley last Wednesday (Aug. 21) to take on the Trappers, and walked away from the George Preston Recreation Centre with a 4-3 win.

The teams were tied at one after 20 minutes, but the Trappers scored goals less than a minute apart in the second period to lead 3-1. The Outlaws evened the game before the middle frame was done, and the game was tied at three after two.

The Outlaws jumped out to a 4-3 lead just 27 seconds into the third, and Mission held on for the 4-3 win.

Mission was outshot 31-17 in the win.

The two teams then met again on Saturday at the Mission Leisure Centre, but Langley skated away with a 2-1 win.

That game concludes the Outlaws’ PJHL preseason schedule, but the team now travels to Vancouver Island on the weekend for games against the Oceanside Generals, Nanaimo Buccaneers and Comox Valley Glacier Kings of the VIJHL.

The team then opens the PJHL regular season on Sept. 6, when they head to Abbotsford to take on the Pilots.

The home opener for the Outlaws occurs on Sept. 7, when the Richmond Sockeyes come to the MLC. Faceoff is set for 6:45 p.m.
