Mission resident Robbie Arthur has spent all winter getting prepared to compete for the 2017 Sports Car Club of B.C. formula vee road racing championship starting April 1 and 2 at the Mission Raceway Park road course.
During the off-season, Arthur and his dad came up with a list of things that needed to be done before the first race of the season. The most important thing on their list was to address the many transmission failures they had during the 2016 race season.
This has been done by replacing last year’s transmission with an entirely new transmission. They also worked on beefing up their spare-parts inventory, which now includes four complete transmissions, three engine blocks with cranks, cams, rods and pistons, an extra front beam and plenty of new brake parts.
Hopefully all the hard work will pay off with him bringing home a championship in 2017 after finishing third in last year’s championship behind Chilliwack’s Darren Grandbois and Abbotsford’s Andrew Mawdsley.
