The B.C. high school football regular season opens today (Friday) for the Mission Roadrunners senior varsity team.
The Roadrunners host the Abbotsford Panthers, with the game kicking off at 3 p.m.
Mission closed its two-game exhibition run with a 49-0 loss to the Meridian Wildcats in Bellingham on Sept. 14. The club also fell 7-6 to Langley back on Sept. 7.
The Panthers come to town on the heels of a pair of exhibition losses of their own, losing 40-6 to New Westminster on Sept. 14 and 35-7 to Terry Fox on Sept. 7.
The Roadrunners close the month with a trip to Kelowna to battle the Mt. Boucherie Bears on Sept. 28.
The Mission junior varsity football team continued its exhibition schedule on Thursday against Mt. Douglas, but results were not available at press time. The Roadrunners fell 30-0 to the G.W. Graham Grizzlies in Chilliwack on Sept. 13. The juniors defeated the Robert Bateman Timberwolves 36-0 back on Sept. 5.
The team opens the junior regular season on Sept. 26, when they travel to North Delta to take on the Seaquam Seahawks. The home opener occurs Oct. 10, when Mission welcomes Carson Graham.
