Arthur Barnsdale of the Mission Racers Speed Skating Club will be representing the Fraser Valley at the BC Winter Games being held in February.
The Mission Racers hosted the Zone 3 BC Winter Games Qualifier during their annual Mission Interclub Skating Meet, held at the Mission Leisure Centre on Nov. 3.
The boys’ qualifying events came down to a nail-biting three-way tie which was broken by the skaters who had recorded the fastest 1500-metre time skated earlier that day.
Joining Barnsdale on the Zone 3 team are Mattias Daniels (Ridge Meadows) and Theory Havelka (Langley Blades).
The girls who will be representing the Zone 3 speed skating team will be Beth Smith (Langley Blades) and Mya Onos (Sardis Flyers).
The skaters will now prepare for the Games, which take place from Feb. 20-23 in Fort St. John.
