The Mission City Tropics have won their second gold medal in as many weeks.
The local hockey club travelled to Merritt last week and went 3-0 in round robin play.
The local squad took on the Vancouver Thunderbirds in the semifinals and defeated them 3-1 to remain perfect in the tournament.
Despite their strong play, the Tropics were still considered to be underdogs in the final, against the powerful Langley Eagles squad.
The Mission team went up 2-1 midway through the second and held that lead for 30 minutes to give them the win.
Solid team play has been the reason for the team’s tournament success, going 11-1 in tournament play so far this season.
