The Mission Cedar Kings’ impressive undefeated run continued on Saturday against the Ridge Attack.
Mission downed their rivals 9-6 in Port Coquitlam to make it seven straight West Central Senior C Lacrosse League wins in a row.
The Cedar Kings led 2-1 after one and 6-5 after two to run away with the win. Tempers flared between the neighbouring clubs throughout the game and the referees noticed, assessing Mission with 81 penalty minutes and the Attack with 104.
Mission’s Steve Aldcroft led the way with three goals and two assists, while Gavan Sand and Tyler Voisey both scored a pair of goals. Cody Thompson and John Makowky each added one goal and collected three assists.
Cedar Kings goalie Wes Perry, making his second start of the season, made 40 saves to earn the victory.
Mission’s record improved to 8-1-1 after Saturday, and they remain tied for first place in the league with the Port Moody Express.
Next up is a huge pair of games for the Cedar Kings, starting with a battle for first place against the aforementioned Express in Port Coquitlam on Saturday. That game kicks off at 5:15 p.m. Saturday’s winner will slide into first place in the WCSCLL.
Mission returns to action on Sunday, when they battle the Coquitlam Cobras in Langley at 5:45 p.m. The Cobras sit tied for third place in the league with a 7-3 record.
The Cedar Kings then take a week off over the Canada Day long weekend, before returning to action against the Richmond Roadrunners on July 7.
