Mission’s Kyle Fiset represented the Roadrunners well at the Miri Piri Wrestling Championship event, which occurred in Abbotsford on Saturday.
Competing in the senior boys 51 kilograms division, Fiset placed second overall and earned a silver medal at the event.
Fiset is coming off a fifth-place showing in the male 48 kg at the B.C. high school wrestling championships last February.
He is expected to compete at the upcoming Western Canada Age Class Championships, which runs at UFV’s Envision Athletic Centre on Friday and Saturday. The event features some of the best young wrestlers from the region and is the major fundraising activity for the Mid Valley Athletic Club, which helps to fund UFV Cascades wrestlers.
Also occurring this weekend at UFV is the annual Cascades Classic, which opens at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The event welcomes top wrestlers from several programs in Canada West.
