The feeling will be electric this weekend as outdoor enthusiasts celebrate the opening of a new trail in the Highlands.
The trail, called Electric Avenue, begins on East Side Road located just off Lost Lake Road. The new 500-metre portion, finished by the Nature Trails Society, completes an existing one kilometre trail that sits on Crown land. The other end of the trail meets the Thetis Lake Regional Park property line and links into the park’s Bellamy trail.
“The Electric Avenue trail is a great experience by itself but also adds a lot of value of the possible connections it inspires,” said Daniel Cammiade, executive director of the society. “This event and trail are just part of the beginning, we have several kilometres of trails built on Bear Mountain and another planned new trail grand opening next month in a Langford municipal park.”
The grand opening takes place on Saturday, June 23 at noon. The Nature Trails Society is a not for profit organization run by volunteers that builds sustainable trail networks in the Greater Victoria area. For more information visit Nature Trails Society on Facebook.
