A lights-out performance from pitcher Maya Moreno led the North Langley Devils to the gold medal over the weekend.
The North Langley Diamond Sports U10 mite select team was at the tournament hosted by the Richmond Girls Softball Association on June 15 and 16.
And after earning the top seed following round robin play thanks to a 4-0 record, the Devils defeated North Delta in the semifinals to set up a showdown against the Richmond Islanders.
The final saw North Langley win 13-0 behind a dominant performance from Moreno, who pitched a perfect game, striking out all 15 batters she faced.
In addition to the gold medal, the Devils won a handful of awards in the skills competition.
The Devils were awarded the fastest team trophy, while Anna Rudetsky was second in the hardest hitter competition and Moreno was third for fastest pitcher.
The team is made up of: Amber Caskey, Rylee Baly, Alysia Dickens, Anna Rudetsky, Maya Moreno, Makenna Baly, Abby McGlynn, Hailey Bowsher, Raya Crone, Olivia Sing, Nicole Nordal, Brooklyn Dougans and Mikayla Tupper.The coaches are Steve Crone, San Caskey, Trevor Moreno, Chad McGlynn and Kim Payne.
