A pair of W.J. Mouat Hawks football players will be continuing the sport at the post-secondary level.
Lineman Gary Ghag and running back/defensive back Tyrone Baker both committed to schools earlier this month, and will suit up for their new teams in the fall.
Ghag, who played both offensive and defensive line for the Hawks, is set to join the McMaster Marauders of the Ontario University Athletics conference. The 6’3″, 270 pound Grade 12 student heads to Hamilton this summer.
Ghag earned the 2016 lineman of the year award for the Hawks.
The Marauders finsihed the 2016 OUA regular season with seven wins and three losses, and reached the league’s semi-final game in the playoffs.
McMaster kicks off the 2017 regular season on Sept. 3 against Carleton.
Baker has committed to the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics conference.
The 5’7″, 170 pound Grade 12 student played a variety of positions for the Hawks the past few years, and was a leader on and off the field.
Baker will also head to the Missouri campus in the summer.
The Wildcats completed the 2016 regular season with a record of one win and 10 losses.
They open the 2017 regular season on Aug. 27 when they travel to Fayette, Mo., to take on the Central Methodist University Eagles.
Mouat finished the 2016 B.C. high school football regular season with three wins and four losses, bowing out in round one of the playoffs.
