The first-ever Mouat Mudder obstacle course race saw 145 participants run, jump, swim and climb to excellence at W.J. Mouat Secondary school on Friday afternoon.
The event saw teams of five battle it out through eight challenging obstacles, and was the brainchild of Mouat teachers Mike Perry and Gina Vanderheide, along with Mouat PE Leadership students.
Teams were made up of Mouat students and teachers, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Services members and the Abbotsford Police Department officers.
The big winner of the event was the Abbotsford Fire Rescue Services Charitable Society, which received $1,600. All proceeds from the event went to the society.
Winning teams were:
Senior Division (co-winners) Blake Gervais, Ezra Garcia-Landa, Liam Jarvis, Josh McCleod and Reid Johnson.
Ben Ellis, Delano Paq-Man, Simion Ionce, Justin Plett and Justin Sadler.
Junior Divison: Christian Flores, Anthony Jaruchik, Simran Singh, Qamar Tahri and Tyrun Duval.
Staff Division: Mr. Hague, Mr. Rahe, Mr. Radons, Mr. McNarland and Mr. Bell.
Organizers stated they want to make the Mouat Mudder an annual event, with plans for a bigger event next year.
