Jass Singh is officially heading to Kamloops to continue his basketball career.
The Grade 12 W. J. Mouat Secondary student declared on Monday his intentions to join the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack men’s basketball team starting this fall.
Singh was a key part of the Hawks’ run in the 4A provincials that saw the club finish fourth overall.
The ranking was the best Mouat has placed in a basketball provincial tournament in over a decade.
Last summer, he played with the Team BC U-17 provincial team and this year he had a stellar Grade 12 season.
He helped lead the Hawks to the Abby PD tournament final in December and helped them win the tournament in 2014.
He was named a second team all-star at the 4A provincials tournament, and had 33 points in the third-place game.
Singh was also named to the BC boys high school all-star showcase in mid-April, scoring 10 points.
He joins a TRU team that finished first in the Canada West‘s Explorer division with a record of 16 wins and four losses.
The Wolfpack advanced to the Canada West championship game, but lost to the University of Calgary Dinos.
The signing also means he will be playing against longtime Hawks teammate Jordyn Sekhon, who signed with the UFV Cascades in April.
