Quarterback Jayden Mourato played his best game of the exhibition season as he led the Golds to a convincing win over Valleyview last Friday.
Mourato threw three touchdowns passes to Ben Novakowski, Tyler Chartier and Hayden Henning on their way to the 26-0 shutout in Kamloops. The win comes off the previous week’s 40-7 loss to Lord Tweedsmuir.
“It was awesome to see our team forget about a tough loss last week and focus on the task at hand,” said Golds head coach Jordan Grieve. On special teams, kicker Alton Neid was a perfect two-for-two on field goals.
“Alton is proving to be a great special teams weapon,” said Grieve. The defence also played an outstanding game as they blanked the Vikings. Noah Dies led the defensive stats with three sacks
The Golds will play their last exhibition game this Friday at 6:30 p.m. against South Kamloops at the SASCU Sports Field.
The first regular season game for the Golds will be on Friday, Oct. 7 in Surrey against Holy Cross.
