The Nanaimo Clippers picked up two wins on home ice this weekend.
The team played the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday at Frank Crane Arena, then hosted the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Sunday.
The Clippers outshot the Capitals 49-26 on Friday on the way to a 6-1 win over the team. Cole Maier opened the scoring midway through the first period with the first of five unanswered goals from the Clippers.
Cowichan scored halfway through a third period marked by penalties. On the night, Nanaimo went two-for-six on the power play.
Brett Roulston, Nicholas Carrier and Devin Brousseau each had two assists, with Brendan Taylor collecting a goal and an assist. Guillaume Decelles had the win in net.
The Clippers beat the Silverbacks 4-1 on Sunday, with another two goals in 10 chances on the power play. Anthony Rinaldi had two goals in the afternoon game, with Maier picking up a goal and an assist and Jacob Jackson with two assist. Decelles got the win in net, stopping 32 of 33 shots.
GAME ON … The Clippers continue their homestand tomorrow (Jan. 28), taking on the Powell River Kings in a 7 p.m. start at Frank Crane Arena.
The Clips are then home again Friday to play the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at 7 p.m. before visiting the Bulldogs the next night.
