It’s hard to know where to begin with the latest Chilliwack Huskers result.
The team travelled to Nanaimo Saturday to face the defending BCFC champion Vancouver Island Raiders.
The odds of Chilliwack winning were somewhere between slim and none, but the hope is always that they’ll play a competitive game.
The final score in this one?
85-0.
The Huskers fell to 0-5 in 2012 with their most lop-sided loss yet. By the numbers, it was just as bad as the final score would indicate.
Two numbers that spell out the differences between the two opponents, eight and 529.
Eight is the total net yards the Chilliwack Huskers offence generated. Chilliwack’s total after the first half was minus-15 yards.
Husker running backs amassed 17 yards on 23 carries.
Between them, quarterbacks Tyson Plain and Taylor Roth went seven of 12 passing for 31 yards.
Five hundred and 29 is the net offence generated by the Raiders. Nanaimo gashed Chilliwack on the ground, racking up 351 yards.
Tailback Andrew DeLeon rambled for 140 yards and two touchdowns on just five carries.
Taylor Flavel added two majors on the ground, with Ashton Galloway and quarterback Jordan Yantz also running for TDs.
Yantz didn’t need to throw the ball, but he managed five completions on seven attempts with two majors before giving way to backups Kurtis Bardua and Dustin Pederson.
Collectively, Raider QBs went 10 of 14 for 178 yards.
Matuet-Samuel Buomkuoth was the most active Chilliwack defender, registering seven tackles.
The Huskers are back at Exhibition Stadium Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) hosting the unbeaten Langley Rams (4-0-1).
