The Williams Construction Nationals got a well deserved win over the defending champion Happy’s Source for Sports Indians in Komoux Masters Real Baseball League action last week.
The usually defensively sound Indians had a few more errors than usual but the Nationals did pound out a lot of hits. In fact all 11 players had at least one hit each with Dave Fauteux leading the way, going 4-for-4.
The final score was 14-5 with solid pitching for the Nationals by Fauteux, Jerry Williams and Brent Bengston. The one bright spot for the Tribe was Tony Powell hitting a two-run home run.
The next competitor for the Nationals was their perennial nemesis the Dundee Giants. This contest was a defensive battle from start to finish. The errors basically determined the end result. Both teams had several base runners but not a lot found home plate.
The Nationals went with the same three pitchers as the last winning game (“Not that we’re superstitious,” a team spokesperson noted) and they did well again. The Giants’ pitching staff of Peter, Rafi and Dave B. were very effective. The game ended with the Nationals losing 3-2.
KMRBL standings in Scoreboard, B10.
