BC Bounce returns to Abbotsford on Monday for its second basketball camp of the summer, and a special guest with NBA connections will be one of the instructors.
Kyle Collinsworth, who spent one season with the Dallas Mavericks and is currently playing in the Toronto Raptors organization, will be helping out at the camp which runs from Monday to Wednesday at Columbia Bible College.
The camp is for players of all ages, with kindergarten to Grade 5 students training from 9 a.m. to noon, Grade 6 to 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. and Grade 8 to 12 students from 6 to 9 p.m.
Collinsworth, a Utah native, starred for Brigham Young University and in the 2014-15 season he broke the single-season record for triple-doubles with six. At one time he held the NCAA record for career triple-doubles with 12, but that was surpassed in December.
He finished his NCAA career averaging 12.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and five assists per game. He also earned the West Coast Conference player of the year in 2016.
The point guard signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2016, and spent the next two years with the team’s G-League club known as the Texas Legends and with the Mavericks in the NBA. He played 32 games for Dallas in the 2017-18 season, averaging 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
He is set to attend the Utah Jazz training camp this fall.
Collinsworth was connected to the camp through new Trinity Western University Spartans men’s basketball team head coach Trevor Pridie, who got to know Collinsworth through his time spent with the Raptors organization.
