The Nanaimo District Islanders took on a high-calibre opponent and made a game of it. The NDSS Islanders Tier 2 varsity football team lost its pre-season opener 43-28 to the AA varsity Ballenas Whalers on Friday at the school field.
Nanaimo got two touchdowns each from Jacob Cheng and Brody Uddenberg. Cheng had one rushing TD and one receiving TD from quarterback Eric Lindsay, while Uddenberg’s majors came on run plays.
ND is on the road this coming weekend and will return home to play G.P. Vanier on Sept. 23 in a 1:45 p.m. kickoff.
