Nelson native joins Okanagan Hockey Academy

After eight years as coach and general manager of the Western Hockey League’s Prince Albert Raiders, Nelson’s Bruno Campese has been named head coach of the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Penticton.

Campese, 51, was a goaltender with the Penticton Knights of the BCJHL from 1979-81, and spent three seasons as head coach of the Penticton Vees before moving up to the WHL.

He’s also a past coach of the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters and played for the Nelson Maple Leafs and Spokane Chiefs of the WIHL in the 1980s. He enjoyed a long professional career in Europe and played for Italy at the 1994 Olympics.
