The Nelson Reflections synchronized swim team opened their season with a resounding performance last weekend in Kelowna.
The 27-athlete team took home seven podium results in figures and also showed off four new team routines.
In beginner recreational, four of the team’s nine athletes placed in the top 10. Elle Faragher took first place followed by Charlotte Malcolmson in third, Gigi Routien in seventh and Presley Peel in 10th.
Seven of the Reflections’ nine swimmers in intermediate recreational had top-10 placings. Elle Sherstobitoff was second and Sarah Sparrow was third followed by Katelyn Hadikin (fourth), Mia Schroeder (sixth), Ella Morris (seventh), Jade Eaton (eighth) and Izzy Tricker (10th).
In the competitive divisions, Kara Strong finished first in 11-to-12 novice.
Cadence Hergott was second in the 13-to-15 division, followed by Brooke Sonnichsen in third, Ashley Sonnichsen in fifth, Nicole Sonnichsen (seventh) and Jessica Fitchett (ninth).
Lauren Strong (seventh) and Jessica Cockburn (eighth) also each finished in the top 10 in the 16-to-20 division.
