Local players are loving the new outdoor pickleball courts, set up in the spring by the City of Terrace.
The city resurfaced the courts last spring, put up new nets, and painted lines for the first regulation-size, outdoor pickleball courts in the community.
Local pickleballers who play Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, switched their game this summer from indoor to outdoor.
Previously, they’ve played in the prior Thornhill Junior School gym (now the Northwest Trades & Employment Training Centre).
“We love them!” said player Wendy Guenter of the new courts. “Love them, love them, love them!”
The group has been disappointed by some abuse of the courts, with nets damaged and glass from smashed beer bottles on the courts a few times this summer.
But they make the best of it and still enjoy the courts. They plan to move indoors again once the weather changes, to continue playing throughout the winter.
