Power forward Greg Johnson from Anchorage, Alaska may not have been on ice for a while, but one would never have guessed that watching him against the Clippers last Saturday.

On Saturday at Oceanside Place in his second game in two nights with his new team (he arrived last Wednesday), the left-shooting 6’2”, 216 pounder was a physical force and showed great stick handling and shooting skills while scoring his first goal as a General in the second period.

A late cut from the WHL’s Prince George Cougars, “I’ve been off the ice for over a month…I’m definitely starting to get back into it,” Johnston, 18, said of his trial by fire.

“Two games in 48 hours,” he chuckled after the hard-fought overtime loss to Nanaimo as he applied an ice pack to his arm. “It’s fun, we’ll see where it takes me as the season wears on, but I’m having a good time right now. I know there’s been a lot of movement on this team …there’s some potential here,” he said. “I know Nanaimo’s one of the best teams (in the VIJHL) and we played a helluva game against them tonight.”
