The Trinity Western Spartans are double dipping with their most recent recruit.
Alison Farkash will suit up for both the Spartans swim and track teams.
Farkash comes from a triathlon background and last year finished second in her age group and 13th overall at the Kelowna Apple Triathlon, a race which serves as the Canadian national championship.
Her time also qualified her for the 2011 triathlon world championships this September in Beijing, although she has not committed yet to attending.
Although not experienced in competitive swim or track meets, she is joining the sports to help her improve for triathlons.
“Her hard work and determination will definitely be an asset to TWU,” said swim coach Brian Metcalfe.
Spartans cross-country and track coach Susan Northey said Farkash brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm.
“She is dedicated and talented but is still very green when it comes to competing in cross country and track,” Northey said. “With a little race experience, she will flourish.”
Farkash is from Alberta and spent the past year and a half studying at the University of the Fraser Valley.
