Broadstreet Properties has signed on as sponsor of the newly created Broadstreet Bulldogs minor hockey team in Campbell River.
The team is comprised of 17 boys aged 9 and 10, and is the first of its kind for the North Island.
“This is a great opportunity for the kids that would have to travel to Victoria, Nanaimo or Cowichan to play spring league hockey,” says Bryce Cockburn, owner of Next Level Training and coach of the Bulldogs. “It also gives kids a chance to play who wouldn’t have been able to, due to all the out of town practices.”
Cockburn approached Broadstreet Properties’ Culture & Community Manager Amanda Raleigh with the idea of providing a program focused on player development.
“We saw value in bringing this kind of team to the community of Campbell River, and were excited to help Bryce make it a reality,” says Raleigh.
The spring hockey experience offers a unique way to improve and enhance the players’ skills.
“Speed, skill and detailed progression are a major priority,” says Cockburn. “The program allows players to develop while learning to read the game at full speed, and having fun doing it.”
Broadstreet Properties is well known in Campbell River for their charitable involvement. Other recent notable sponsorships have included the Trades Exploration Program at Carihi Secondary School, the Life Skills House at Timberline Secondary School, the donation of an MRI machine to the new Campbell River Hospital, and design concepts for the soon-to-be Rotary Community Fieldhouse at Robron Park.
