No more parking for snowmobilers at Finn Creek

Finn Creek commercial vehicle chain up pull-outs by Highway 5 will be policed this year

The Finn Creek commercial vehicle chain up pull-outs by Highway 5 will be policed this year and any vehicle found parked in that area (i.e. trucks with trailers used for hauling snowmobiles) will be towed.

That was a message taken by Cst. Michelle Hall of Clearwater RCMP to a recent meeting of the Thompson Headwaters (Area B) services committee.

During the meeting, Hall also provided handout materials related to outdoor recreation vehicle (ORV) legislation and reviewed the do’s and don’ts of usage.

Discussion occurred regarding some items specifically related to the use of snowmobiles, including access through the community of Blue River and use on public roadways.

As the roads in Blue River are under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, it would be up to the Ministry if changes were to occur to allow snowmobiles to travel on the paved roads.

The RCMP constable suggested inviting MOTI to discuss this item, and to provide MOTI with a map of proposed routes.

The services committee requested that the services coordinator contact representatives of MOTI and Blue River Powder Packers to see if they would like to attend a services committee meeting to discuss possible snowmobile access within Blue River.

Thompson Headwaters (Area B) includes the communties of Blue River and Avola, as well as the surrrounding area, including Tum Tum Lake.
