There was a good turnout for the recent 100 Mile Nordic Ski Society annual general meeting, and the consensus was the 2011/12 ski season was very successful.
Most of the executive members were willing to stand again and were voted back into their positions.
Don McDermid has stepped down as grooming co-ordinator and Don Savjord will take over that position, says media co-ordinator Lauren Bock.
“We are very grateful to McDermid for taking on the position last year and thank Savjord for stepping into the position now.”
Most of the executive members have played a role on the executive for many, many years and are becoming burnt out, she says, adding the society needs a couple of volunteers to take on small jobs to help spread the load.
Help is needed in the following areas:
• Someone to help organize coaching workshops (Barb Matfin will be the mentor).
• A couple of people to be part of the adult events committee, which plans adult events such as Valentine’s ski, moonlight skis, ladies tea, but only requires a time commitment of a few hours.
• Someone who enjoys writing, as the executive would like to have an occasional club newsletter.
The 2012/13 executive includes president Nicola Maughn, secretary Tracy Moore, treasurer Anke Zucchelli, registrar Maryanne Capnerhurst, media co-ordinator Lauren Bock, coaching co-ordinator Barb Matfin, skill development program co ordinator Colleen Ellens, grooming co-ordinator Don Savjord, trail maintenance co-ordinator Neil Manhard, and facilities co-ordinator Tom Puckett.
Bock notes Deb Summers has agreed to co-ordinate the Challenge 300/500 again next year.
“We have two wonderful volunteers who have offered to write grant proposals. Thanks go to Kathleen Rotluff and Colleen Robb.”
She adds the trail maintenance team has already been working on improving the trails.
