The Chilliwack Cougars won four of five games at last weekend’s B.C. Baseball U18 College Prep provincials, but the one loss cost them a title.
Chilliwack hosted the tournament at Fairfield Island and opened with a 7-5 win over Cloverdale.
They followed with a 14-4 whomping of North Fraser, a 9-4 thumping of Kelowna and a 9-2 whitewash of Nanaimo.

But North Fraser avenged their earlier defeat in Sunday’s championship game, dealing Chilliwack a 5-3 defeat to claim the crown.
During regular season play the Cougars went 12-1 with 123 runs for and 47 against, running away with top spot in the five-team college-prep league. In the championship tourney, Chilliwack’s runs for/runs against differential was +22 (42 to 20) while North Fraser’s was dead even at 30-30, but for one game the Nationals were better.
Chilliwack won the title in three of the previous four seasons, including 2019 when they beat Ridge Meadows 5-2 in the final.
